No jobs = No illegals

Simple.

These are the real criminals.

-OR-

Invade and annex mexico as a US Territory. That place could rake in major Tax Dollars on Tourism alone.
Anyone here who wants to whine about illegal labor needs to sack up and explain how much more they are willing to pay for nearly everything - from meals at restaurants (who cooks and cleans?) to their new house (how many of those Polish construction guys are here on "Tourist Visas"?) Also, don't forget that the illegal labor pool is extremely fluid - which is a big plus for businesses giving them the flexibility to hire and fire rapidly and seasonally.

Like it or not, our economy is pretty dependent on illegal labor. Seriously cutting that off will both raise prices across the board and slow down the economy. If that's what you want, then you need to be honest that you actually want the tradeoff that comes with it.

And to address the moron who supposedly wrote the letter at the beginning of the thread: Many illegal workers are on payrolls with fake Social Security numbers. SS is witheld from their paycheks and paid into the SS fund. Of course, they will never be able to claim that money, so it goes to you and I. Cutting off that flow of unreclaimable money into the system means less for us years from now... And about illegals not having driver's licenses and insurance - it's the same jackasses who block laws that would allow issuing DLs to illegals who complain that they aren't licensed and insured. And what's that crap about ditching health insurance in favor of 'free' treatment at the county hospital? Hey, you can have the same opportunity to sit for hours in the waiting room, bleeding, and then get crappy care. All you have to do is give away your assets and quit your job so you qualify as 'indegent'. But you aren't really going to make that tradeoff, are you?

like I said, Piggy, this is not a partisan issue and I'm confident those types of bills will never pass.

but it is partisan...neo cons want even tighter laws, and to send em all back first. libs want to ignore them, and leave things as is....this bill was trying to cut a swath in the middle, and neither side was biting.

you're both wrong. it was about bush trying to find some way of looking good years from now(not possible) and the rest hoping to get re-elected.

 why would I ever expect a rational thought out response from rhunt regarding politics....

last I checked, only 33% of senators are up for re-election every two years, so what is your justification for the other 66.6% mr enlightened?

i'll come up with another enlightened irrational response after the weekend. in the mean time you go ahead and keep believing the our US politicians care about anything other than money and power.

I agree with rhunt, I believe Bush wants it to be a legacy but it appears the 8000 lb pink elephant sitting next to peewee herman is gonna take care of that for him
