Lets get something together, Im sure weve got enough talented climbers that know how to swing a hammer to help with whatever plans Matt and Amy may hold. Either way I'm sure we can all do something and get materials donated or donate to this project. Hit it up from Indy to Cbus to NC to WV. Weve all enjoyed too many mornings at RRO. Friends, lets organize.
Everyone: please contact me and let me know what you can do to help with the rebuilding effort. Right now we are in the information gathering stage. If you have professional services you can donate, or if you will seek out donations of services and/or materials, that will be wonderful.

Eric's pics of River are very nice but also tough to look at.

On the bright side my company is offering help on the rebuilding effort. As Professional Engineers licensced in Kentucky we have experience, among other things, in conducting structural inspections of fire damaged buildings, making recommendations for repairs, and conducting follow up inspections to insure repairs have been properly completed. We are looking at coming down either Monday or Tuesday to conduct an inspection.

Bill, that is fantastic! Are you familiar with or do you have access to Powell County building codes? Please email me at rebuilding.rro@gmail.com so we can discuss.

guys, i really do not know what to say, think or do right now. this truly has been a very tough time for us, as well as the community. we are not the only ones that lost most their physical possessions, we are not the only ones that lost somethign special that is worth way more than anything you can put your hands on. we all lost. our place was not just ours, it was yours. it was every person that walked thru those doors. how many of you have slept on our floor lived on our land or busted your own plate or get some coffee for a stranger ? this place would not exist if it wasnt for each and everyone of you. i cannot express my gratitude as well as my pure astonishment to how quick and much people have done since the fire. there were more than 30 climbers on the scene before all the fire trucks arrived, the minute it caught fire people were bringing clothes, food, drinks, hugs and support. In fact we are fully clothed and have more amenities than we had before the fire. some say I even have some style from the last decade. we have had people drive from ohio, michigan and further just to hug and offer their help. the climbing gear scene has reacted with amazing efforts. I have enough gear to continue my guide/instruction services. the local business have went all out. amy had shoes on her feet within 10 minutes of the blaze from miguels, food from miguel and mark and many man hours from true north. our house has been full of much needed company and our phones are off the hook with support. I can truly say WE LOVE each and everyone of you. our biggest lose was our kid, river. river has been laid to rest in an amazing location. he has water at his nose, undisturbed woods around his body and many sticks to chase till we see him again. river led an amazing life and was as much apart of many people on this boards life as he was ours. he will truly be missed. right now we are not in need of much. with your generous donations and support we are clothed, feed and are currently fine on cash. we will rebuild, it doesnt sound like we have an option icon_smile.gif we will be calling up for help and will need all we can get. as time moves on. this community is the best in the world. we really should buy an island and run our own country. if we have not contacted you back or if i miss saying thank you and i love you im sorry. to say my head is in a whirlwind is an understatement. we are strong, our community is strong and we will be back better than ever.

with much love and a heart overflowing with joy, thank you and may you be blessed.

It is absolutly amazing how this community has come together, it makes me smile when I see all that has been happening after the fire. But it is only for one reason, Matt and Amy,that reason is you! You opened your home to all those sleeping on the floor, the back yard, the countless hours put into bolting and beta. It is your willingness to give someone the shirt off your back, and the pancake off your plate to make sure that they are comfortable. Thanks Matt and Amy for all the wonderful days at RRO!

Many of you have expressed interest in helping rebuild RRO.

We are in the very preliminary stages of information gathering. This includes not only identifying resources, but also researching building codes, etc. Until the insurance issues are resolved, we can't make any firm plans, but we will be ready to go when Matt & Amy are ready to go.

The first step is to put together a database and populating
it with the following info (which will be kept private):

First name
Last name
email address
phone number
Service(s) offered
Special Skills (ie drywall, electrical etc.)
Level of commitment (i.e. specific weekends, every weekend, occasionally, long term - etc)

You can PM w/the info or e-mail to rebuilding.rro@gmail.com

Thank you for your willingness to help!

Matt and Amy,
We loved reading your letter. We are so happy that you are doing OK and that everyone there is taking good care of you. We wish we could be there.

Count on us for rebuilding efforts. We have spent many hours in sadness thinking of River and knowing how we would feel if it had been Nadine. We know that so much is out of our control, but our friends and community are all that keep us going. We love you and hope you will count on us to do anything we can. We made a donation to start.

Matt & Amy,

Haven't been on the board much since I started working down in North Carolina, but just got an e-mail from one of your many friends about the fire. My condolences on the loss of River and the many personal items I know you can never replace. You two got me started into trad - first as a client but you seem to have a consistent habit of turning your clients into your friends. You have been, and I know will continue to be, a big part of what makes the Red River climbing community such a special place. It's great to see so many people rally around you. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
