Cerro Standhardt reading

Post by gulliver »

I've googled a bunch but haven't come up with what I'm looking for. Does anybody know of some article, hopefully by Bridwell, on climbing Exocet?
Doesn't have to be online.

(not to be confused with subtle spray cause this stuff scares the crap out of me)

The article is about his 40 years of climbing and only a small piece is about Cerro Standhardt on page78 of issue 18.

Greg Smith on the rock leads, Jay Smith on the ice and Bridwell on the aid if I recall was one of the teams that did an FA on that peak- and yes that was Greg Smith of RRG fame

Thanks for the heads up on Alpinist. It would be cool if there's a more indepth recounting of the FA out there.

I'd be surprised if there isn't a good article in the American Alpine Journal. Have you checked there?

No, not had access to the library for a bit and when I have, it slips my mind. You're right, there should be a write up, just fishing to see if there was a book someone had read that had it.

gulliver - Bridwell, Smith & Smith climbed Cerro Standhard in Jan/Feb of 1988. I believe Bridwell's article on the first ascent appears in the 1989 issue of the AAJ on pages 57-65. Sorry, I don't have a copy. If you can't find it in a library, let me know.
