Gym climbing is more pure than all of the above. I'm not altering real rock in any way, and my girlfriend makes me dinner afterward.

Purity at its finest.

who cares if you're a blah.blahblah climber. I like the drawing though. I think I've done that sit down start. Felt pretty easy though.

The purest form of climbing, while still being protected, would have to be top roping. No bolts required, no trad gear required, just minimal rigging at the top. You never have to stop and place gear which leaves you totally focused on just the climbing aspect.

I also believe the level you climb is determined by consistency. Just because you bagged one 5.11 doesn't put you at that level.

One of my biggest laughs is when people say "Yeah, I climbed that" when in reality they dogged their way up it. I don't understand the reasoning behind having to BS about accomplishments. I used to hear this stuff all the time when people got back from their trips. Yeah, we climbed that 5.10 and that 5.11 and that 5.12. Don't bother asking what their definition of "climbed" is!

I think that as long as you've belayed someone on a particular grade you can say that you too climb that grade.

i like to use the term "got on" if i climbed something and fell on it because i have this bad habbit of needing to be accurate. i have climbed a few .12's but in no way do i consider myself a 12 climber. i onsight .11b-c pretty regularly and have had a few 11d onsights so i consider myself an 11 climber. i've climbed with some people who work 12's (and eventually get them) but can't onsight 11s that i do, which i think is pretty funny. i guess i prefer onsight climbing to working stuff which is why i haven't climbed many 12's, i just don't have the patience for it. maybe if i lived in KY and got to the Red more often i'd get excited about routes and work them

It's sad that you can climb 25+ 5.11 and not be an "11" climber. But you suck ONE cock and your a cocksucker for life.
