some advice please

Post by Lateralus »

Hello everyone,
I will venture down to the center of the Universe over Easter and
I wanted to humbly ask for some suggestions. Saturday will most
likely be a day of no parking and lines at the crags. I've been to
the big name crags -- Roadside,Torrent,LF & Mill,Lode, and would like
to try and go somewhere new. We're probably not bringing any
pro with us as only 1/4 of our group knows how to trad climb, so I'm
specifically looking for sport routes from 10 to 12. The steeper the better,
How about darkside, oil crag, solar collector, drive by and any others
i may or may not have heard of. I'm not looking for the perfect answer just an experienced opionion of some jewels that maybe don't get sprayed about as much.
Thanks a lot! Can't wait!

when i go to the front page of that I don't even know where the crags I've been to fit into all of the different regions. I do appreciate that database though and all of the creativity and effort that has gone into it, I like the format it's fresh to say the least. I guess I was hoping to get some of the locals to throw me a few scraps or something and I'm feeling a bit lazy but if I have to that will be the first place I check-- thanks

It's too easy to be lazy about. Use the SEARCH function. Enter your grade range (i.e.replace 3rd class with 5.10 and A5 with 5.11) and uncheck all the top buttons except for sport. This will give you back a list, sorted by wall, and you can check out the walls in the list you've never been to. You'd be surprised to see how many great sport routes are at trad crags (usually less populated)! Electric Cowboy at Purple Valley is SWEET!

Check out Sky Bridge Ridge, the Drive-by or maybe Funk Rock as well.

Hey so does Drive-By get sun during the day around this time of year? I've never been and want to check it out this weekend.

It'll probably be almost too hot for this weekend. Unless you go later on (after 4pm) like Jeff said. Those routes get HOT!
