i doubt we disagree about anything. climbing is dangerous. it would be great if people received solid mentorship before transitioning outside. it would be great if everyone built an extensive library of skills before pushing limits, maybe especially when trad climbing. it would be great if everyone ...

saw a kid (soft) deck at the zoo the other day. he was trying to clip the last bolt on scar tissue (5th? - the one ppl clip from a right hand pocket), fell with slack out, and landed with his feet on the ground. in other words, he decked from about 40 feet. i would say he was a few feet of slack awa...

average route? i don't know, 8 draws plus anchors. 12 draws will get you up the vast majority of routes. leaving draws up is generally frowned upon, though it does happen sometimes. best to plan on cleaning every time out. november can be cold, yes. as in, below-freezing at night. you will definitel...

i haven't noticed that. most of the ppl i climb with check. i mean, yeah, some of my fresh out the gym gumbo friends don't but i teach them to. def not a thing of the past.
