Never met him, rarely communicated with him, and yet I never missed the implications of who he was and how much he had done for climbers. He was a legend in his own time, and his passing will leave a huge hole in all the lives he touched. Salute, Mr. Bronaugh. Next time I raise a glass it'll be in y...

Gretchen, I figured it out when all that work was done to speed up the archaeological dig and one person though it was funny to risk it all and yank the FS chain by writing a post about chipping. Nothing has changed. You can't tell people to climb or not climb over property you don't own, and that's...

I've been on a snowboard once, never on skis, but want to get out and learn anyway. Alpine or X-country is fine with me.

Where is the place an hour north of Columbus? I've been up by Lake Michigan, but that sounds closer.

Both the leader of the KDP and the PUK have had interviews aired on Al Jazeera since Saddam's capture, and neither make any claim what-so-ever that Kurds were involved in the capture, beyond observation. US forces captured a person of high interest, a distant family relation to Saddam known as "...

"I can finaly finish the basement, pay off the visa and maybe get new siding and front door on the house!"

Have you ever noticed just how many shiny metal things they sell at gear stores and camera shops?

Way to go, Jeff, looks like you are going to be having some happy holidays.

An argument based on facts, hmmm....a novel concept...but....ok... "Capturing Sadam may be important, but Ba'athism is a whole ideological system, so it may not work to 'cut the head' off the organization to kill it. By now the resistance has figured out how to operate in a less top down way, a...

Eureka makes a good tent. If there are lighter or less expensive 3 season double wall backpacking tents out there, I haven't found them, and I've been looking. I have a 3-man Apex that goes at 7lb 3oz for $130, a two man Alpine that goes at 4lb 10 oz for $100, and a 1 man Solitare that goes at 3lb 1...

The problem with the engineer's data is the figure he uses for rope stretch. Very few ropes give figures for dynamic elongation, and the few I've seen that do give a figure for a factor 1.7 fall, the standard UIAA 80 kg fall. If you play with the equations, you find that dynamic elongation varies wi...

Well, I did four sets of five monday, plus some curls, and nothing has changed. left hand still normal, right fingers still stiff and a little sore.

Not sure what's going on in there, but the good news is that training doesn't seem to affect it.

Thanks for the all the replies and info.

"It never did really hurt, it just felt "fat"" That is a pretty good description...an occasional minor twinge but it always feels "fat" like it is injured and is swollen. I like the power putty idea too Artsay. it seemed kind of silly to warm up for pullups by doing.......
