I just need to rant for a second and then I'll be done.

I was climbing at Left Flank with some friends this past weekend, and was just disgusted by the amount of cigarette butts I found. Luckily we were climbing around other decent climbers who helped us clean up the area we were at, but come on people. Go right ahead and risk the chance of lung cancer and other nasty side effects that come with smoking, but at least clean up after yourself! It's bad enough that I have to put up with second hand smoking, but to litter out in the gorge, that's just rude and insensitive. Is it really that hard to pick up your cigarette butt and throw it away later in a garbage can?

Unfortunately noone who reads this are among those who leave butts around

not true trog......this group is just yer average assortment of climbers...smokers, non, professional, students, bums, etc...

we all need to be reminded to clean up after ourselves and our pets at the crag.

that's what pockets are for, tho I suppose that wouls be a little messy for cleaning up after pets

All over, but mainly near Fast Food Christians, Mr. Bungle and over by defy the laws of tradition.

Yeah, the best was when a friend and I found a Hansel and Gretel trail of ciggie butts at Roadside- when we ran across the offender he was smoking and spewing about all the weekend warriors, buckeyes, flatlanders, etc. that are fucking up the Red and are the reasons for threatened access.

Irony at it's finest and shameful example of the entitlement displayed by some folks who are unfortunately local to the Red.

they say you can tell a good route in France by the number of cigarette butts at the base. . . not true at the gorge.
