Steve McClure on the Red

Post by the lurkist »

From an interview currently in Climbing-
"The UK has some great sport climbing. Foreign wads used to come over all the time, but then sort of forgot about it when Spain and France got awesome. Look at the Red River as a comparison — everyone knew it was good, but no one really went until now. You can be sure that after the Petzl Trip the place will be on the map!"
"It really is all good ! My thinking only occasionally calls it differently..."

Hmmm....our little "crag" may get a little more crowded.

Overall its prob a good thing. Let the Red shine. :)

Even with the growing visitor population the red sees, the amount of areas to choose from in the gorge has gotten so large that crowds aren't really a factor. At least from what I've experienced on some of the busy weekends i went down.

I rarely see more than one other party at any of the crags in the lower gorge. My favorite playground.

I guess this means that we are soon to be over run with Euro's. Maybe they should start increasing the wine selection at beer trailer. I know that Boone's Farm is both classy and delicious, but I don't think its quite up Euro-trash standards.
