when is the next meeting? some friends and i are coming down to RRG in a week and are hoping to climb at torrent falls, and thus we want to show support at a meeting to be granted access.

is there a meeting soon and by chance is it in the next two weeks?

thanks!

Sorry, no RRGCC meeting is scheduled in March. You can show your support by by becoming a member and volunteering. Where are you from neadamthal?

wow this forum is pretty active :)

no worries Driskell -- i know the pain of access and of needing volunteers from our own local issues. luckily we don't have 1000s of climbers using and not helping out our local crags.

i'm from New Brunswick Canada, and so have a 20 hour drive ahead of us. there are 8 of us coming down, all of whom volunteer with the local climbing club to promote climbing and deal with access issues/impact remediation. so while we aren't coming down for the sole purpose of helping our RRGCC, we are not adverse to it and on the contrary will be more than willing -- but can it be on the rainy days? :D

that link to RRGCC.com has a 'closed areas' page... in one place it says Torrent Falls is closed, in another it doesn't show it in the list, so can someone enlighten me?

It was sold to a gentleman (I dont remember Dr. Bob?) anyway I HEAR that it will be reopenend in the future but for now yes it's closed. Sucks big time, it's a nice crag with some great natural features in the mix.

okay better info below we posted at the same time.

neadamthal, torrent is closed to the public but open if you rent a cabin. to rent call 859-230-3567. with 8 people the cabin will come out to be economical - you get a great place to stay and can climb there. i highly recommend it. (in fact, i'm going to stay at one of their cabins tonight!!!!! :D)

hope you have a great trip!

As VP of the RRGCC I can tell you that a few pounds of Tim Horton's will do a lot of good for our mission. :D

What Josie said, rent a cabin and you're good. Climbing at Torrent isn't closed right now, just limited to cabin renters. Since Bob is the new owner, he's trying to work out a plan for restricting use that's feasible for both him as property owner, the non-climbing cabin renters, and the climbers. It's just working out the kinks in how to manage that is a challenge, especially when he doesn't live there.
