Just curious, for me it just depends on the day, sometimes I like it when a group of strangers is cheering me on, but sometimes I get distracted by too much random energy.
Shoo, I forgot to add naked free soloing.

On hard sends, its only the rock and I... I don't hear voices. That, or I can zero in on one voice. My daughter comes through loud and clear... even when her tiny voice is mixed with 5 adults...

Not much on crowded walls unless the climbing is easy...I can remember when I first started leading, it didn't matter how many people were around or how loud they were talking/laughing, whatever...my partner Barry could sing out over them all...If I started to sketch even a tiny bit I could hear him plain as day..."dude, you're gonna fall and die"

Or...
"You want down? Say you're ugly!"
So Barry!

These crowds need to shut the fuck up with all the stupid chit chat and just climb.

Well, with the "Climbing season" approaching crowds are getting bigger and appearing in places they never did before. As much as I bitch about crowds and noobs on here, the truth is that as long as they are being respectful at the crag I don't mind at all. I will of course go where I must to minimize the noob contact though. Or try the obscure trad thing so that winterstorm can complain about me screwing with his nice quiet day

Most of the time I prefer just having 'the gang' around- Although sometimes a second group of positive laid back folks is cool- especially when you're on a gutsy send attempt and you all the suddenly notice everyone has stopped to support your efforts. No matter the grade its always
cool to see someone giving 100%- I hate seeing people taking and hanging because they won't even try for the next bolt. Falling ain't the boogeyman and you often surprise yourself.

my two best sends it was just me and my partner, which was nice.

Cheering on is great. If I'm focused and wanting the send. It has helps to block the negatives in my head. But beta spewers can be annoying especially if you need it and its bad.

Numbers don't matter, but yelling/cheering distracts me, particularly at the crux. If I'm at a rest, then cheer away!
