For anyone who has had more than a passing interest in the Red River Gorge they must have either heard and/or met Legendary USFS Ranger Don Fig. For over 40 years this remarkable man has given his best so the Gorge and its visitors might remain safe and sound. He has been involved in Rescue Operations, uncountable public appearances, KET Specials and served as the authoritative historian on the region. There isn't enough room to list all his accomplishments and awards but we did want everyone to be aware of this news. Mr. Fig has declined any celebration in his honor despite his fellow USFS Rangers desire to do so.
We have also been made aware Mr. Fig hopes to do Forest Service Volunteer Work in the coming years. Since recently he had been stationed at the Gladie Cultural-Environmental Learning Center it is hoped we may once again find him there in the upcoming future - - - we say "Thank You" Mr. Fig for all you have done.
