This is why the online guidebook sucks, at least. And, Ray - I love both the print book and the online guide, really! But the comments under lots of the routes suck. Esp. when some anon chode starts bickering. Maybe your should disable anon posts. I expect (and participate in) the lame bullshitting that you expect form the forums, but I see the guidebook differently.
I think the online guide would be better if the comments were more constucive, or relevant, on topic, etc. but unfortunately that largely restws in the hands of the users. So, it isn't the site, it is really us who makes the site suck.

And yet another original topic for RRC.com.
I believe we voted to keep the comments - I personally find them amusing.

Guess that's sarcasm. Well, I didn't see a thread about this or a poll, but I admit I did not search. Thanks I will look for it.
I suppose I am contributing to the sucking.

LOL! I think someday we should talk Yasmeen into compiling a list.

That I would like to see. May be an original thread topic, no?

Didn't Ray say that he couldn't selectively delete comments from the online guidebook? Or did I just make that up?
I enjoy the comments and don't mind the occassional "this route made me poop my pants" or "this route blows" as these are comments. That's what it's for. But I agree with der uber that "conversations" belong elsewhere. Get out your crackberries and curl up on the couch with some shortbread and blow each other (I mean chit-chat) all you want. But we should reserve the comment section of the guidebook for just that. Comments!
We know they won't all be constructive, but maybe they will at least be entertaining.
2 cents, thanks.

I can easily delete comments from the online guide but some very useful information has come from anonymous postings so I don't want to disable that ability. I don't want to manually purge comments either. I figure if it bothers you just don't read them. It doesn't seem to be completely out of control.

Fair enough - thank for chiming in. Glad to at least be able to bring it up.

Workin' on it.
The 'we' refers to the community at large policing itself for common decency. You can choose to be included or not. I suspect it will never happen though as there will always be someone who feels that they are special.
Don't step on my feet and I won't step on yours. I try and live by the golden rule; it just makes sense.
