You are invited to help the RRGCC have another successful year by participating in our 2008 strategic planning process. This process will kick-off in a meeting at Torrent Falls, KY from 1 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, January 20, 2008. Climbers who have volunteered for the RRGCC in the past or intend to be involved as volunteers this year are especially encouraged to come to this meeting.

The RRGCC has a strong history of strategic planning and has a well developed vision, mission, and strategy for securing climbing access. In the January 20th meeting we will review what was accomplished in 2007, what our current issues are, and what goals and strategies we will pursue in 2008. Please RSVP to the RRGCC’s Executive Director, Bill Strachan, bill(at)rrgcc.org, if you will be attending the January 20th meeting. Please e-mail Bill even if you cannot attend this meeting, but are interested in being involved in the strategic planning process.

Prior to the strategic planning meeting on January 20th, the RRGCC will be holding a Board of Directors meeting from 11:00 am to Noon during which the Board will elect officers for 2008. The Board meeting is also open to the public.

My first suggestion for 2008 is to have meetings at times other than the middle of the climbing day. Whats wrong with after 6, in Lexington, at a bar? Ok, maybe not a bar. Charlies house!!

Besides, some of you (cough cough captain cough cough) need to get out and go climbing, especially since you were born for it.

Don't get me wrong, I love what the RRGCC does, and I love to help out, but I love climbing more. Especially the instant gratification of going climbing instead of attending meetings.

Heh. Too many of you people already know where I live.

We are open to suggestions though, seemed natural to do it in the gorge when/where everyone would be able to attend.

Would it be more appealing to do it earlier in the day? The coalition meeting is scheduled for 8 am but we could easily switch the two.

Our concern about meeting too late is that the weekend warriors (like me) would be unable to attend strategic planning then return home. That's also why we quit having the meetings in Lex. but I'm all for doing the strategery first.

That solves it. Meetings at Spragwas house!! Then she'll have no troublems getting home. :D

I was just guessing that maybe more people would be willing to get involved if it didn't mean giving up climbing time to go to the meeting.

I'll be at the meeting... unless its nice enough to get in some good climbing.

I'm sure Dr. Bob would have no problem letting people climb @ Torrent in the morning before the meeting. As the announcement says you do not need to attend the meeting to be involved in the planning process. Just send me an e-mail of your interest and I'll make sure you are in the loop.

As far as the intimation that some may not climb anymore (cough) I would mention that I did manage to climb the Bishop Jaggers route in South Platte and Yellow Spur in Eldo both in CO last year. Heck I even re-remembered my own beta for the crux on Bandolier. It's those Alzheimer onsite moments us crusties live for anyways.

Due to an expanding BOD Meeting agenda that portion has been moved up to start at 10:30 am. The Strategic Planning session will still start at 1:00 pm. The meeting is still being held on Sunday as planned. That is when Dr. Bob is off. Sorry.

I know this is late in the game but does anyone want to carpool to the Strategic Planning Session at 1:00 pm with me from Lexington? Shoot me a PM w/ your phone number and we'll sort out the details.

It was coooold. Bob's jambalaya was hot n' spicy. Morgain's cornbread was sweet. Meadows pot stickers were yum. Oh, and we had a productive meeting.

I am pleased to announce that the current slate of officers were re-elected for another one year term: Dr. Bob Matheny, President; Charlie Rittenberry, Vice President; Dwight Bradburn, Treasurer; and Paul Vidal, Secretary.
