dogs at the red?

Post by phreed333 »

Can anyone tell me if there are any regulations for taking dogs to the red river gorge?

depends where you go, regulations are different at different crags. Muir has a mandatory leash rule right now but dogs will be banned there starting Jan 1, 2008. Torrent got closed for many reasons, dogs running around leashless was one of them. The forest service doesn't have any restrictions as far as I know but don't take my word on it. dogs can be a bit of a problem/nusance so keep them on a leash, especially if other people are around.
Sand inhibits the production of toughtosterone, so get it out and send.

just don't be stupid about it and its cool, and don't think that your dog deserves special treatment at muir because it is a good dog. I had to tell 4 people to leash there dogs on my way out of muir a few weeks ago and it just really pissed me off cus I can't climb there with my dog come january because of these types of shitbags.

 i always assume if someone doesn't have a dog on a leash it's ignorance. when i told someone that there was a leash rule there 2 weeks ago. the owner responded. "it's november they don't ban dogs until january." i explained that there's a leash rule and he replied "my dog IS on a leash" (dog - obviously not on a leash - is happily running through the rhodos) some people just don't get it

phreed333, thanks for being responsible and checking beforehand.

i think the only regulations are per USDA regulations.

USDA article 123, section 12, para. 4.) all canines must be cooked to medium or an internal temperature of 160 degrees before being served.

hope that helps, ilike mine med reare if possible.

dmw- I'll be waiting for one of those cards. And maybe you'll get one of D'neal in a hat and scarf.

phreed333- Just make sure you keep your dog leashed and under control. I've seen dogs on leashes who still manage to jump, bite and get into my food. If you really want to hear how some of us feel about dogs at crags, search it here and you'll find pages of people bitching...
