if I named a route "van der wals attraction", would anyone get it without looking it up? it would be a dead vert hard 12 line, if that matters.

I think it's fine if people don't exactly know the meaning of a route name without looking it up. I knew that "van der Waals" referred to some molecular force thingy that had to do with gecko pads, but not exactly.
If anything, keep going with the theme - there must be some good physics 'jokes' to be had. Strong force/weak force? Graviton, gluon and boson particles? Spooky action at a distance? "Mu sub s" (the all important coefficient of static friction), for slabs, of course.
How many people know what Ro Sham Po means? (or that it should be "bo" for that matter?)
Obscure route names are good!

didn't know about the gecko pads, and I don't think anyone knows the forces exactly. I think the po comes from the Korean version of the game, or maybe some other Asian version, still a fun game when poker doesn't quite give the gambling fix you want. i would have never noticed the mistake though.
