anybody have an idea on what is available for bursitis? I've been treating it with alternating doses of naproxen and ibuprofen which sometimes helps and sometimes doesn't. what about herbal remedies?

I'm dealing with that in both shoulders right now. I'm finding glucosamine and chondroitin to actually help a lot. Could be a coincidence but after several months of pain, I felt a lot better within one day of taking it.
I'm also doing band exercises and am trying to do accupuncture since my insurance now covers it (if I can ever get an appointment). For me, I think it's my posture and have been working very hard at changing it. I'd be more than happy to give you a band and tell you the exercises I'm doing? You know where to find me.
Still able to climb right now, just not certain moves. I'm definitely hitting the rehab hard all the time these days and doing everything I can to keep the inflamation down.

Is that why it hurts so much to lift my arm above my head? It started after cranking too hard pulling around a roof. I been living with it and avoiding anything but small roofs.

I worked the bands after surgery and they seemed to help (and I know I have some stashed around here somewhere) I've got a scrip for diclofenac but what really made the change was a shot of cortisone/lidocaine. I was really able to move much better climbing this weekend than I have in months...
Artsay, have you done any weight training to supplement the "pull down" strength of your climbing? that is to say, try to balance the muscle development in the front of your shoulder? somebody suggested it and it might be a good idea.
ynot, you may have done more to your shoulder than just strained it. It was a roof, I'm pretty sure, that tore mine apart. go see someone before it gets really bad. Do you remember how my arm use to hang uselessly at my side? I couldn't hold an effin cup of coffee without pain...
I'll look into Glucosamine and chondroiton...
