thanks captain static, that article was a nice write up!
The professionals agree. Dave Graham and Daniel Woods had heard about the Red River Gorge, but never made the trip. Now Graham has decided to stick around for a month of climbing, while Woods came away from the experience saying it is "some of the best climbing (he's) ever done."

"This is way better than any RocTrip I've been to before," added Graham.

...

Usually the Red River Gorge Climbers' Coalition raises about $5,000 at Rocktoberfest, just a dent in the $30,000 mortgage. At this year's Rocktoberfest the coalition has already raised $20,000, and is expecting to take in more than the $30,000 necessary, according to executive director Bill Strachan.

Scroll down the player to find the story on the Roc Trip. This is the story we did Friday, consider it a primer for non rock climbing viewers. I'm not sure there is anything in the story we as climbers didn't already know. I believe our ABC affilliate in Louisville picked up the story, and it was sent out to the ABC affilliate services so stations around the country might have aired some of the video too.

This was in the Weekender section of the Herald Leader on Friday.

i love how news networks always make things all touchy feely in their stories "all because this rock has something to share" seriously?!?!? i think it was cause people wanted a good party

Steve - nice! It's great to see climbing in the manstream media not presented as 'crazy' and a story not full of mis-used lingo or glaring errors! I think that mom and pop at home got a good impression of climbing as something reasonable and fun, and that the Red is a great spot! (Where's the investigative journalism - exposing the twisted underbelly of so-called 'rock climbing'!?!?! ) My only gripe would be that I'd like to have seen a couple of really wide angle shots early on to show the 'little' climber in the middle of the 'big' cliff to give the viewer more context for what's going on - but I'm guessing that a normal ENG camera setup doesn't have all that wide of a lens.
