If they are not yours don't take them. Someone else's draws on a route should be sacrosanct. It is great to get on a route that has draws hanging. Especially one that is graded hard and difficult to clean. Someone should feel grateful that the draws were up there in the first place.

Perhaps the concept of "climbing booty" is bad karma. Fine, great, rejoice you got some free stuff because you can do something that thing 2 could not, but there should be a nagging moral shadow behind taking what is not yours--whatever that thing is.
Usually people's behavior is governed by bills of rights and constitutions etc. How do we get the word out about the climbing ethic?

i think educating gumbies is paramont. i'm hoping this was an ignorant mistake and not an act of willful theft. 
at the UClimb clinic I know we tried to cover all the basics, but I'm not sure if we ever did talk about the difference between fixed gear and booty. i know it never occured to me to mention it.

i think the moral of the story is people need to stop stealing shit from Kenny so we can stop feeling sorry for him and replacing all his gear every time! i'm totally kidding Kenny, that sucks big time. the gumby thing is a valid comment, a friend of mine nearly did the same thing 3 or 4 years ago but someone told her what was up and stopped. this same person is now a draw-leaving hard woman in the Red and would never dream of cleaning someone else's draws.
on another thought, maybe petzl took them down so they could have their pretty logo-ed draws on the routes for photo ops while their studs climbed the routes and then accidentally took them home with them? just a thought.

Begging the question. Hard climbers are not necessarily more ethical. Oh, BTW, thanks for the draws on Hippocrite. It makes it much easier for me to run up there and give it a few good burns. Right! The forum cracks me up. Seriously, every other time you guys have me literally LOL. I hope it wasn't the few nice Petzl quickies I left on Hippocrite that crossed my mind when Kenny's draws evaporated. I donated those to the line. They are sheltered from the weather hopefully that is where they stay.
