I was hiking the Abram's Falls trail down in the Smoky Mountains along Cades Cove. My wife and 2 young boys had just settled down on a nice big rock by the falls when I get hit on the head with a rock. Knocked me to my knees and I felt as though the wind had been completely let out of my sails. For the rest of the day, I had a racking headache and was somewhat nausiated. Suffered a minor concussion. Someone had thrown a rock from the trail overhead.

What a stupid thing to do, throw a rock off a cliff where you can't see the landing point. That was the lesson my son's learned that day!

Yep, I have been there when people trundled huge logs of the top, and of course, beer cans on other occasions.

I think it says that the guy is cooperating with authorities, but still, what a stupid fucking situation to be in. I'm sure he's saying "I'm so sorry! I had no idea that rocks could hurt people! Or that there could be people where I can't immediately see them!"

It seems like the most thoughtless, reckless thing that you can do, to throw a huge rock off of the side of a cliff, when you have no idea where it's going to land.
