Hugh! Thanks for that! WTF happened to his opinion since? I think the answer is $. This war is lining his pockets with duckets. It is a sad thing when our leaders sell us out. Nothing had changed since he expressed that opinion till now and he really predicted the hell we are in now in that interview. He actually sounded like someone I might have flipped the lever for. I am blown away! :?:

These days I think he is just a snake.

I think it's part of some sort of ego trip. Remember, he's the same guy who headed el Shrubbo's committe to select a VP candidate, and, of course, picked himself as the best person in America for the job! Along with his crack head "unitary executive" theory (e.g. the president is "more equal" than the other branches of government), he adopted the neo-con world view. He saw the 9/11 attacks as an opportunity to overthrow Iraq and use it as a base to "transform the middle east". Of course it was a terrible idea on many fronts, but from his megalomaniacal view point it just made too much sense to invade at that time. He had (out of touch, biased and greedy) Iraqi exiles telling him that the Iraqi people would greet us with roses, it would help Israel, it would give the US a puppet oil state (possibly pulling Iraq out of OPEC), we could move our bases out of Saudi Arabia which would take pressure off of the Saudi rulers (his friends, after all it was US troops in SA that got Osama bin Laden going in the first place), those new bases would be simultaneously on the borders of Syria and Iran, it would allow for the domination of the Kurds, taking pressure off the Turkish government, and on and on and on.

HE would radically re-write history, evidence to the contrary be damned! What the hell does the CIA know - he had Iraqi exiles telling him that the WMDs were there (and collecting checks when they told him what he wanted to hear)

(Let's also remember that while Rove was involved, it was Cheney's office that spearheaded the revenge attack on Ambassador Wilson by ruining his wife's career at the CIA. Tell me again, how is that not treason?)

It's a good thing that the US doesn't have "imprisonment on general principles". But seriously, are we going to let him get out of office without at least impeaching him? It's not like most of the public would object... If anything it would probably help a lot of struggling Republican Reps and Senators in the '08 election if they were to help ditch him.

won't happen tomdarch..you know as well as I that the dem's are just as power driven and lame. an impeachment ceremony would appear petty so close to elections. sad but the reality of our system.

the revenge on Cheney and his just desserts are this- his and Bush's legacy. This administration will go down in history as the most corrupt and reviled. Their example will undo most of the Neo con political gain that they built in the last 8-10 years. The political pendulum will swing (unfortunately) back to the far left.
The Dems don't need to do a thing to Bush and Cheney. They are doing it themselves.
