There were 2 guys in a white pickup, with some sort of county or park symbol on the side, putting signs in friday morning. It appeared that they were just adding more, unless they got there really early at like 5.
Aw man...how sad. Roadside parking lot camping stories will be a thing of the past, left in the dust of RRG camping memory. Where the hell will those folks camp now? I don't think Miguel's can handle the overflow.
I wonder what the reasoning behind it all was. I mean it was getting pretty dirty-- we noticed last time we were there that it seems like the trash cans never got emptied.

That has been an ongoing thing for years with the trash. I called the place the ghetto. I don't see how Miguel will be able to accommodate everyone. I guess there is a need for another tent city!
JB, tyhat place is pretty nice. I camp there alot for now cause no one else does. There is a LOT of room for the overflow and I am sure the owners would love to see the business. Good people, good spot. Hell, they had even cut firewood for us and stacked it next to my favorite site
That is a Wolfe County owned park so I'm guessing that was the official looking truck you saw. The trash has been a problem there for years. The dumpster was being used by locals that don't want to pay for curbside pickup and don't want to dump illegaly. IF I had to guess the county probabbly had to cut some funding in their budget somewhere (its a tough fiscal year for the state of KY). That or they were getting a lot of complaints about the people camping/trashing (not entirely the climbers fault) the area.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.
