what kind of stuff bites you at the red?

On saturday I went climbing at midnight surf. I had my usual share of scrapes and bruises, and also took a small chunk out of a finger. Nothing too out of the ordinary, and the climbing was nothing I dont' usually do. '
On saturday night I was extremely tired, and fell asleep earlier than usual.
Then on sunday morning, I felt like I had been hit by a truck. EVERY single muscle in my body ached, and I felt like I was going to puke. later in the day I felt like I had a fever.
I woke up this morning and I felt fine.
I did notice a mark on my leg that looked like some kind of a bug bite. Is there some kind of sp1d3r/tick/random insect that would cause this sort of thing at the red? Or should I just assume it was some sort of freaky 24 hour illness?
