Effective January 1, 2008, dogs will no longer be permitted in Muir Valley.
This date can and will be moved up if flagrant infractions and incidents continue.
Until then, dog owners who disregard the leash rule will lose visitor privileges.

just curious how you are going to enforce a no dog rule when you were unable to enforce a leash rule? People who have been ignoring the rule are probably going to ignore the new rule, too. I'd hate to see this escalate to a climbing ban.

Wrong answer....
The last 4 times I have been to Muir I have seen 10 groups with dogs. Out of the 10, 8 were not leashed. That's not good odds.
I stopped climbing at Torrent when the dog ban started because I brought my dogs every weekend. I only bring them 50% of the time now, but that's 50% less time I can spend at Muir (especially now that I wanted to camp out at Midnight Surf for awhile
).
So, don't count me as one of the I hate your dogs people because I really like dogs a lot, but you can count me as one of those I hate your owners people.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

I can't express it enough
don't be afraid to tell people to leash their pups.

So what exactly is so terrible about dogs that you cannot bring them to muir valley??? It's not like they are carrying deathly diseases... ok, they bark
and they poop (thats why those baggies were invented).... but other than that???
I even dare to say that the majority of climbers like dogs.
A dog owner.

easy folks..
admittedly, i'm not a dog owner nor do i have any plans on being one any time soon. so i'm a little more immune to this issue than other. still, there's no reason to escalate an issue, especially by means that won't resolve anything.
