If your being belayed by a much lighter climber would it be better to connect them to an tree or other anchor by the belay loop where the force of the catch would be more directly supported by the anchor or by the haul loop allowing the belayer to better face the climber. This is in situations where the belayer is 50-75lbs lighter then the climber.

As a heavier climber I often get belayed by people 40-50 pounds less than me. I rarely have had a problem, every once in a while I will swing hard into my belayer, but I always get a soft catch. I don't think there is any need to tie them down, just tell them not to jump when you fall, they will get a nice ride to the first bolt. Def makes you think twice on a route with a really tough 3rd or 4th clip.
But much heavier than 50- 60 pounds, hmmm, so whats this story about stitches?
