ingrown toenails FYI

Just a little fyi and some friendly advice from my experience.
I have been to a regular doctor a couple of times in the past to have an ingrown toenail taken care of. It has been the outside nail of the big toe on one foot or the other. Not a fun time. Yea I know "cut the nail straight accross and you won't get them". Not an option when the nail breaks back on itself from jamming cracks and such foolishness.
This time mine got infected...........nasty to say the least! This time I went to a podiatrist after discussing it with my regular doctor, found out quickly it is the way to go! He numbed the toe first with a spring loaded dohicky that preped me for the big needle. I am not saying I felt no pain but it was way less then prior work done by my regular doc. The foot doc did his work removing the damaging ingrown plus a little more. Then applied a acid so that portion won't grow back. I have had 0 post pain, I could have went climbing in the afternoon! I "enjoyed" it so much I had the other toe done yesterday, same thing, no post pain!
And if you live near columbus, I've got a really good podiatrist to recommend.
