actually there is a relation between the two. Hillary Clinton was named after Sir Edmund because she was born either on the day he summited or a couple days after.

Definition of irony: Extremely accomplished mountain climber gets hurt around the house.

There happens to be no relationship between Clinton and Sir Edmond. Clinton was born 6 years prior to Hillary's Everest triumph. For her to be named after him, at the time of her birth, she would have been named for an unknown beekeeper from New Zealand.
Just for info.
Sir Edmond has done so much for the Sherpa, building schools and such, I hope he will be remembered for his accomplishments outside of mountaineering.

evidently you're right, just a story that i'd heard. i don't think its that ironic that an 87 year old would get hurt around the house regardless of what he did when we was younger. we all get old, we all will die. think about how many times we've stumbled while walking to the crag to climb some vertical walls.
