When jane netizen climber goes to her spray list and sorts by date sent, it would be very good for journaling purposes if the date were listed along with the route name. This should take very little programing.

I hope this request meets general approval.

The programming would be easy, but I'm hesitant to cram too much information onto the page. If others (esp. Ray) like the idea, I'll put it in there within the next day or so.

Huh? I don't understand your question. I know that the information exists because you can sort by date sent. PHP code can stick {YYYY.MM.DD} next to the route name in the html output with no problem. How would this tag be info overload? I know next to nothing about php. I have programed with Pearl a little bit though. By saying this would take very little programming I was merely saying that I was not asking a lot in my humble opinion.

Your reaction is odd. I appear to have offended you. Perhaps it is because I am a manager. I have graduate students and postdocs working under my supervision. Perhaps I came off a bit supervisory. I am sorry if this was the case.

In any case it is just a suggestion. If I am the only user that thinks it is a good idea then to hell with the idea. In any case, this site is a unique climber resource that increases the value of the Red. I really appreciate your efforts.

It was just funny because managers always assume everything programmers do is so easy. I see it in my job every day. No specs, no requirements, but hey..."It should only take the programmers a week!" as the managers sit in their Herman Miller chairs on their fat asses sipping coffee.

get to work , you whiney ass programmer....and get me a coffee while you are doing nothing.

I think the date is a good idea. If info overload is a problem, could it be an option to turn on or off when viewing said list?

I always just tell my manager that it will take a week or so for me to receive my new shipment of magic pixie dust. My normal wholeseller has it backordered, but this new company assures me that it will be here in time for the two-week deadline.

I hear that SCIN. The little programming I have done to accomplish little but necessary tasks {reading real time, mV input from a High Pressure Liquid Chromatograph and porting the four-channel output to text and converting that to graphics, for example} tells me programming takes commitment. Furthermore, it is information that I have to look up all over again because when I don't need it, my brain core dumps it without writing the log file. My son is at university majoring in CS. He has tried to get me into Java. I am too busy and doing too much climbing to invest the massive neuronal commitment that learning Java would entail.

There is nothing easy about programming. I did not mean to come off that way at all. Now that you have explained your perspective I think we are kool.
