How far would one have to go to get to good trad, sport or boldering?

and then it is only good bouldering.
raleigh is actually pretty much screwed for good climbing...at least two hours of highway seperates you from mecca.

I think that there is some scrappy bouldering right in town at a place called Olmsted park but I have never been there.
Pilot Mountain, Suaratown, Moores Wall, etc are the closest climbing areas and have a good selection of bouldering, sport and traditionally protected climbing.

Don't ever go to pilot, and you would climb everything at Suaratown in a day. Hardest route at suaratown is 13a.

2.5 hours to Moores Wall, pretty good trad lines and some bouldering. 4 hours to Boone and and a little more to get to Asheville. I grew up in raleigh and driving out to rumbling bald or shipwreck or grandmother for a weekend is not too bad. In fact, i day tripped it to boone a few times but that really sucks.
There are two gyms in raleigh/durham-vertical edge and raleigh rockyard both are decent.
Since I left there is some supposed bouldering development going on close to the triangle (raleigh-durham-and chapel hill) but like all those 'secret' spots i don't have any directions.
On the flip side raleigh is also only two hours to the closet beach!
