Hey, anyone in the Lexington area know a good subaru shop? And maybe a source for an engine? It is a 1994 Legacy L 4x4 wagon. The engine is nearing 300k miles and is starting to fade...

Wes your 1994 is the 2.2 right? The 2.2L subaru motors last forever.

I am pretty sure that in 1993 and 1994 subaru released the only fully closed deck turbo motor to the U.S. market. You could boost the crap out of that motor and it would just keep going. Forged crank/rods, piston oil squirters, larger modified coolant passages, modified main bearings, stronger piston rings, longer wrist pins, and can handle close to 30 psi of boost reliably. That was a good motor.

Gaar the 2.5 DOHC engines from around 1997 to 2004 had headgasket problems.

Hey, I was looking to buy a '94 Legacy the other day to replace my now failing vehicle. Has 120k on it though. If I can get 300k out of it, it would be more than worth the money, but 135k? Probably not. What problem did you have with your Gaar?
