I've just started working 2 jobs (temporary) and after a whopping 2 days it's already getting to me. More importantly, something is fucking beeping periodically in my home office or near it and I can't figure out what it is much less find it. I have both of my cell phones, my pager, my handheld computer, and all my wireless phones (3) sitting right here. IT IS NOT ANY OF THESE THINGS!!!! HELP!

I had exactly the same thing happen to me last week Lynne. I kept hearing this beep every so often. I tried to find it, and so did my wife and girls, but it never happened when we looked for it. I thought it might be a low battery in a smoke detector. I changed them all and it kept fucking happening. I finally found out that it was a low battery in my CO2 detector. After a few days of that I would have loved a little CO2 to calm me down.

My smoke detectors are wired (that way they don't waste juice going off in the event that the fire takes out my electricity  ) and I don't have CO detectors. Any other ideas? It's getting more frequent and it's REALLY WEIRD!

Something doesnt sound right about that statement. If the fire takes out the electric, how are they going to go off and wouldnt you want to know it?

exactly... my builder was no Einstein.

Well folks, I know you are dying to know what this beeping was. It increased in frequency - like a battery was dying and the warning was getting more frequent, or a bomb (ha ha). I still couldn't find it. I would start searching through drawers and filing cabinets where I thought the sound was eminating and then it would go off somewhere else. Repeat ad nauseum. Very frustrating!

Then it just stopped.

I still don't know.

This would be a very good practical joke to play on someone.
