mammoth cave

Post by climbboy »

Being new to these parts, my wife and I are taking a little trip down to mammoth cave in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions on places to camp? Free or otherwise?

Any beta on the must-see (yet not mobbed with people) spots? Hiking trails?

We aren't cavers, so we are just looking for some nice 3-4 hour excursions.

I have the guide book, but sometimes it is better to ask around and then cross reference the guide book.

Thanks!

I have been on the "Wild Cave" tour a few times. Check this out. It will last about 6 hours and it's a lot of fun. Most likely, you will get dirty so come prepared. You will need to reserve your spot on this tour ahead of time so call before you head down. Mammoth Cave is a national park so if you plan on camping, you have to stay in designated camp sites. You sign up for these at the visitor's center.
