"Climbing . . . duh"

Post by GWG »

I have looked at a few profiles of people that I didn't recognize. I'm amazed at the number of people who have "climbing . . . duh" or some version of that as part of their interests.

Gee, how original!

There is nothing outside of climbing, nothing I tell you, to suggest otherwise is madness!

Actually, when not climbing or laying half dead in the road, I like to be on top of a motorcycle.

I hate to break it to you, but no one really climbs anymore, we just rappel and live vicariously through Graham and Sharma these days.

GWG, What is the first thing that comes to your mind when someone asks you what your hobbies are? I didn't realize jerking off was an appropriate response for this website when I signed on.

I don't have a problem with putting "Climbing" as an interest. It's the "Climbing . . . duh" phrase. I guess I'm just too old to get it! When I see it, it goes through my "approaching alzheimer's mind" gee, now that's original. For the umpteenth time.

Hey, it was Monday morning and 3 of the 4 profiles I looked at had it on it. What can I say?

I guess I had not realized that it was so common, it was just my natural reaction when writing a profile for a climbing webpage.

that's just it. If you have a profile on a "climbers" website, when asked hobbies/interests, maybe they are asking for something other than climbing. I would hope many people do more than just climb.
