Tendonitis?

Post by littleboxes15 »

So I was climbing last night and the weirdest thing happened. I felt a popping sensation in my right wrist and then my middle finger numb. It scared the crap out of me so I stopped climbing right away, but it still hurts a little. Any pearls of wisdom you all have that might be able to shed some light on this would be greatly appreciated. Especially if they come in the form of whether or not it's okay to climb at Rocktober Fest this weekend. Thanks

1. On your finger, rub an ice cube on the injured vigorously until it hurts (as taught to me by Pig's better/smarter half, a hand therapist). I rub it further with warming massage oil right after.

2. Don't climb for awhile.

3. Ibuprophen

4. When you start back to climbing, tape, tape, tape!!!

Thanks for the advice, Meadows. Just out of curiosity what's the ice for?

I imagine that if something popped, you have swelling and icing reduces it. Rereading your message, I see that you hurt your wrist though (ice there). I heard that your mom is an MD so she might better explain it why.

Also, tendons in your finger run all the way up through your arms and that is probably why your finger went numb.

Either way, time off is mandatory.

When we're on the subject of my aches and pains, does any one have a good hangover cure? I was so depressed about the idea of not being able to climb this weekend that I cracked open a 5th of rum, had 4 maybe 5 shots, and then went to Two Keys. Now my whole body is rebeling, especially my stomach.
