My grandbuddy's boss was on that plane. So tragic. Tyler's a sad kiddo today. He is also good friends with her daughter.

In the news business we often make reference to the 'big one' as far as spot news goes. A plane crash like this is about is big as it gets. I hope no one around here lost any family or friends in the crash. Thought, prayers, and positive vibes to those who did. I knew something bad must've happen if my phone is ringing at 6:20 on a Sunday morning, I had no idea it would be as bad as it was. From the chaos of the crash scene to the chaos of a NTSB news conference its amazing how you can switch into autopilot and do you job. Same goes for fire, police, and airport officials. Rambling thoughts, but one thing is for sure. Much sadness.
Sorry for the shameless plug, but here is a link for more info:

I didn't know anybody on that flight, although two people from work were flying out on the same flight the following day. Same departure time and destination. It was a near miss for them.

A guy where I work has a sister who missed the plane. She was literally too late and wasn't allowed to board. It was a near miss for her too.

The Herald-Leader posted pictures of the crash site today. Very sad and hard to look at...

it really hits me when the news talks about the people who were on board (the ones we know of) such as the newlyweds.
Artsay: Wow, I've heard of that happening before ... wow.

Hind sight is always 20/20 but they should have had more than one person on duty in the ATC tower. The only person in the tower had his back turned to the window because of other required duties.
