Good movies

Post by SCIN »

Saw a few good movies lately in case you're looking for something to rent:

The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada - Cool modern day western with Tommy Lee Jones (who also directed it)

Everything is Illuminated - Interesting flick starring Elijah Wood

Transamerica - Good movie about a transexual

I just now realized it but all three flicks are focused on long journeys. Check em out on DVD.

Any recommendations?

It won't be out to rent for awhile, but I liked the new Superman. If you want to continue a long journey theme, The Searchers is a great movie. It's a classic western directed by John Ford and starring John Wayne.

the new indie theater in lexington has lots for cheap, as theaters go, heard Brick and The Proposition were good

new world is cool if you into beautiful, understated, low diolouge movies, VERY slow if your not

the mission is another beautifuly sparse movie

I thought Superman was a great movie.

Lucky Number Slevin was a great twist and turn movie with an amazing cast and is currently playing at the dollar theater here.

Broken Flowers was a good indie Bill Murray flick too!

I'm going to see Tristram Shandy today. :)

Tristram Shandy???They made a movie out of the book??? what a horrible book...my British Novelists teacher even hated it so much he only made us read like three or four chapters of it...I can't even imagine a movie of it!!! You will have to let me know what it was like...had you read the book???

16 Blocks with Bruce Willis wasn't bad
and we just watched
Vertical Fronteir...it was history of Yosemite kinda thing, really interesting and well done...Tom Brokaw was the narrator...basically ends with all the old school climbers coming together to save Camp 4 -- it rained on us this weekend so we watched it in the tent!! hehe, kinda cheating when it comes to camping, but WalMart has cheap portable DVD players!!

On DVD (I rarely get to theatres these days), the Constant Gardener is really good and has nothing to do with gardening!

Also, the History of Violence was really good if anyone hasn't seen it.
