I hate wasps.......

....and there's a big nest of them in a crack about a foot below the anchors on Blue Runner at Fortress. They weren't home when I set the anchors, but when I went back to clean them about 6pm, they came swarming out of the crack, one decided to sting me as the others swarmed around letting me know that this anchor station belonged to THEM. After a while, they all settled down and went back into the nest in the crack and I very gingerly proceeded to remove the anchors and lower off. But there's really no way to do anything at that anchor station without pissing them off, so beware.

oh yeah, they got me last week, too! we rigged up a quick link and rap ring combo to get my buddy out of there as quickly as possible...

there are also some on
dogleg out at bob marley. nest isn't big enough to be much off a problem but they get that crazy eye look at you when you're climbing. i'll take care of it next time i'm out there..

There is also a nest at the anchors on Big Sinkin' Breakdown. Makes the run-out that much more fun.

I wish I'd taken a picture of those bees' nests at Fortress. Pretty wicked looking hive of ground nests.

Since bees are not endangered, I say spray spray the whole cliff band.
