Black Hills Climbing
Black Hills Climbing
Road trippen through South Dakota for a few weeks. Anyone have any suggestions for some killer spots to boulder or climb? I want to check out the Badlands and Blackhills area. Also, any kick ass areas to camp would be great.

Fun places, no doubt! Camp free at Sage Creek in the badlands. Black hills has several pay campgrounds. Lots of killer climbing around there, and a list of "must do routes" would still take weeks to go through. Slyvian lake is a good place to camp, and you can walk to much of the climbing from there.

Life's too short to drink cheap beer or cheap coffee.
I climbed in the needles a couple of times in the mid seventys.
Hardcore trad area with cheese grater potential when you take a whipper. You learn to tie off knobs and crystals.
That being said I had a blast there. Lots of cool routes and many safe and not too scary. I guess there's some sport climbing at Mount Rushmore and a couple of other places. The bouldering is steller.
And Devils tower is a stones throw away.
