Yes yes...after roughly 12 hours of driving through the night and part of the day, Dipsi took the sharp end and flashed this nice 5.7 at Crawdad Canyon in southern Utah. (Yas - it was the one to the left of that crack by the pool...) There was no top roping involved, she took the sharp end and away she went. I would say it was an onsight, but she did belay me when I climbed it...so let's be ethical about this... Even in her very car-tired state she was excited to climb and enjoyed several other routes in the basalt canyon. (pictures to follow soon, her daughter was snapping away...)

Glad we got to climb with you Dipsi, thanks for bringin a little piece of the Red to us for a day!

Yee-haw Cowgirl!!
Great work!

If a 12 hour car ride is all you need to make you see that the sharp end ain't that bad, maybe run a few laps around the Gorge with Del, Dakota, Diesel, River and River before your next rope up down round these parts.

nice work Dipsi!

Crawdad is the "outdoor gym" place but it is pretty neat and its location in the river gorge keeps it alot cooler than the rim of the canyon... i remember having to grab on to the burning hot rocks at the top of a climb to clean it even though the conditions on the rest of the wall were great

Yeah if the sun is hitting that basalt, it gets HOT, hard to clean some of the routes, you really have to chase the shade, but it beats the 115 degrees it was in Mesquite last weekend. And when most all the routes are equipped with super shuts, or sport clips, whatever you want to call them, cleaning is a breeze anyway!

Crawdad is good for getting lots of routes in, they are usually shorter routes and pretty technical, too. It's a great summer get away around here, someplace you can go and not have to hike up in elevation to get relief from the heat.
