Visiting -- looking for cla ssic trad

Post by riptide »

I am going to be in Lexington for business pretty soon with my boss. We all climb, and should we get done with business early, we were planning on hitting some rock.

Between the three people who will be climbing, one of us is pretty experienced, but out of shape, and the other two of us are beginners. So we're looking for routes in the range of 5.7-5.10.

My boss is the more experienced climber, and has asked me to search for cla ssic trad routes in that difficulty range to me ;) So, any suggestions?

I saw http://www.redriverclimbing.com/viewtop ... highlight=
and the suggestions there were for Roadside Crag and Fortress Wall. Those look appealing to me, but I'm fairly new and since I'm in Charleston, SC most of my climbing experience is at the local gym. So I'm not sure how much my interest counts ;)

Not a lot of trad lines at Roadside, but the one real classic there is Roadside Attraction and it's a really short approach. Worth stopping by. As you saw on the Board, Fortress has lots of options in the 5.5-5.8 range, including a couple of classi c 2-pitch routes. Have fun, and bring bug spray!

Take everything out of your car, leave the windows down, and check the seats for snakes and mouses when you get back in.
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

lol, good excuse to clean the car ;)

knowing my luck, it'd start raining while we're out there... we come back soaking wet to a soaked car.
