coopers is pretty cool but one of those places where it really helps to go with someone that can show you the good problems. There isn't much guide info for it. Niagra Glen is also pretty cool and there is an online guide. Personally I wouldn't consider either of them for a climbing destination unless I was planning on doing something else while in the area. Drive to the New if you are bent on going to WV.

the New is 4 hours away from the Cleveland area. It's about 4 hours to the Glen from Cleveland too and Cleveland to Coopers is about the same. Check it out, I really think your best bet from Cleveland is the New or maybe Seneca.

Niagra took us 2 and a half hours door to door. Just over 3 hours to Coopers and 5 hours to the new. Have you lived in cleveland

I guess all I want to know is if Coopers is worth a 3 and a half hour one day trip. I do really like checking out new places.

I grew up in the Cleveland area, been living in Columbus for about 16 years now. I've been to coopers(refered to as Morgantown to the local Cbus crew) many times and it takes about 3 and a half hours to get there from Columbus. I am not sure how you can do it faster from Cleveland.

Anyways...yeah it is worth it. Bring lots of extra skin and don't expect high concentration of good problems you'll need to roam around a lot.

Have a good weekend.

Thanks I think we will go to Morgantown, if the weather is good. Mapquest told me 3 and a half hours from cleveland, and you can usually take off a half hour from map quest.

Cooper Rocks is real nice. I climbed there all the time in college (in Pittsburgh). trail's edge has a small guide on it, and the nice thing is there's awesome boulders, trad, toprope, and even some sport there. And you're right, you can just wander through the woods and find places.

If you want, I can try to get some more beta from my buddy that lives up there, maybe he could even guide you around, if he's not doing something else.
