For old WOMEN only..

Post by SCIN »

Why is it that almost every woman over the age of 40 feels she needs to cut her hair very, very short?

Being that I am NOT 40 I can only speak from my experience. I chopped my hair off this past fall and realized that short hair does take more attention than long. So needless to say I am growing it back out again! Too lazy for maintenance!!
Just genuinely disengenuous.

No, I"m talking SHORT. Older women get boy haircuts for some reason. You have cutesy short hair.

My hair is super long right now and I have no plans to cut it (I'll be 39 next month). Long hair is definitely easier than any other style to take care of, however I can see myself going with the lesbo look when I'm an old granny. I'm talking crew cut. I had one in college and it was super easy, too. (I was a punker. Shut up.) I think that many very mature women lose their vanity and see the value of simplicity. I'm not terribly vain, but definitely too much so to go with the buzz at this point. I may never. I can go forever between hair cuts, and short short hair needs lots of trims.

My question right now is to dye or go gray. I'm starting to get some gray hairs and I'm debating whether I want to be a slave to the chemicals (maybe go blonde!), or go salt & pepper. It's not much gray, so I have a few years to decide. Anyone here dye their hair? Is it a royal pain in the ass? I'm probably too lazy.

I agree that long hair is less maintenance than short. I pretty much just let it dry however it wants to after washing it, and it does whatever it wants to do. When it was shorter it looked weird if certain areas flipped out while others flipped in and all that, and I'm just too lazy to worry about that.

Scin's onto something. There should always be enough hair to make a decent ponytail. My 2 cents

is it the age thing or the marital status? everytime some chick gets marriend the hair gets cut. sometime it happens immediately. i don't get the thought process.

<chick> okay i've no need to impress anyone anymore. now i can look like an boy... now that i think about it i can go back for seconds of dessert too, cuz now he's legally stuck </chick>

that's why you need to avoid superficial women. A woman who loves life and is active is going to take care of herself and therefore naturally look good. Anything less in a woman is a waste of your time. Even unattractive women (as in magazine standards of beauty) look great when they enjoy life and stay active.

Well said, Lynne! Though it may sound cliche, in either sex, confidence (though not the superficial-I-wear-2-lbs-of-makeup kind) is one of the most attractive attributes.
