2006 Red River Rendezvous Info

Post by captain static »

Click here (http://rrgcc.org/rrr.php) for RRGCC 2006 Red River Rendezvous information and click here (http://www.modump.com/movies_motivation.php) for the "Homestyle" video trailer. This Memorial Day Weekend, May 26, 27, 28, & 29 @ Miguel's, the RRGCC will be celebrating the efforts of all supporters and volunteers involved in raising sufficient funds to ensure our ability to make the Pendergrass-Murray Recreational Preserve mortgage payment due June 15, 2006. We especially thank http://redriverclimbing.com for their monumental fundraising efforts and the Access Fund (http://www.accessfund.org/) for their $2,500 grant.

The Rendezvous has an action packed agenda with a Trash Clean-up / Scavenging Contest, the premier of Wes Powell's southeast bouldering video "Homestyle", an outdoor Climbing Competition @ the PMRP, a Miguel's Pizza Eating Contest, and live music with "DJ Mike", "Joe's Neighbor", "Neville Pohl", & "Matt Martini w/ Jeff Dion". On Saturday May 27, Arno Ilgner will be giving a Warrior's Way (http://www.warriorsway.com/) clinic and Patty Helmick will be providing massages. We have accumulated quite a bit of schwag from our event sponsors (Miguel's Pizza, the Access Fund, redriverclimbing.com, Wolverine Publishing, Red River Outdoors, Torrent Falls, Pedal The Planet, Philip Gall's, Black Diamond, DrTopo, Mountain Gear, Petzl, LaSportiva, Evolv, Montrail, The Warrior's Way, RockQuest, Climb Time Cincinnati, Clif Bar, REI, & Gore-Tex) for contest and raffle prizes. Other important information about the event is posted at: http://www.rrgcc.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=345

We look forward to seeing you @ Miguel's this weekend to celebrate with us and to kick off our fundraising efforts for the 2007 PMRP mortage payment!

I'll bring the wine bottles for the first annual "wine bottle kwan do" demonstration.

I don't know what "wine bottle kwan do" could be...but I am very afraid.

Be afraid. Be very afraid!
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

If you are planning on attending the 2006 RRGCC Red River Rendezvous event @ Miguel's this Memorial Day weekend here are several things to keep in mind:

1. If you plan on camping @ Miguel's you should try to arrive there on Friday, May 26, 2006.

2. There will be ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING along KY 11 during the event. Please follow the direction of volunteer parking monitors to proceed to an acceptable parking location.

3. If you are camping somewhere other than Miguel's you are strongly encouraged to carpool to Miguel's for evening entertainment activities.

4. Due to the outdoor climbing competition being held Sunday, May 28, 2006 at the PMRP the following crags will be closed except for competitors: Drive-By, Bob Marley, the Gallery, and Volunteer Wall.

5. If you plan on competing in the PMRP climbing competition you are strongly encouraged to carpool to this part of the event as parking at the Drive-By & Sore Heel parking areas is very limited.

Also, if you would like to help put on the event as a volunteer please send a PM to Spragwa. Volunteers will receive a free event registration package.

Big thanks to Josh Thurston! He's donating several ropes for the competition and will be giving them to the climbing community to use for route development. Thanks Josh! Your gift is much appreciated.
