!Canceled! PMRP Fundraiser Volunteers Needed !Canceled!

Post by Steve »

Here is an opportunity to raise $1200 for the RRGCC for the purchase of the PMRP!

WTVQ-TV needs 156 people who can volunteer an hour of their time on Tuesday, May 16 to phone in election results from polling places in Fayette County on election night. It is real simple: The station needs to put one person at each polling place who can gather results and phone them into the newsroom. Each volunteer would need to be in place by 5:30PM, stay until the results from that polling place have been counted, then phone the results into the station. This should go fairly quickly and the volunteer would be done around 6:30PM. That's an hour of work and the RRGCC would earn $1200! Sounds like easy money if we can get people together and pull this off.

If this is something ya'll think we can do please let me know and I'll try and work things out here at the station. Just think (cue patriotic music) you can inform the public of one of one of their greatest civic duties, help make television happen, AND raise money for the PMRP.

PM me if you got any questions.

I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

I'm working on the all or nothing as far as volunteer numbers go. Need to double check that there are that many polling places vs precincts (some polling places house multiple precincts).
I think they could work things out if the RRGCC and say another organization helps out, money would be split. I'd love to have all RRGCC'ers. I'm assuming money woulod be cut s a lump sum check from the station to the RRGCC. Again this is all happening very fast (the usual group had to cancel at the last minute) and I'm trying to work with the powers that be between my other 'duties'. I'll kep ya posted as I learn more info.

Sounded like easy money for the PMRP so I thought I'd see if there was an interest.

Steve, I'm in. I take it we can get non-climbing friends in on it to get the numbers covered?
I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Great idea Steve.
Wish I lived in Fayette County, would really like to help on this one.
Sounds like an easy paycheck for the PMRP!

Ditto what Jeff said!
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

Yeah sure, climber, non-climber, spouse, sig-oth, etc as long as they can show up at the polling place and call the results we could use 'em. You don't have to live in Fay Co or even be a citizen of the great Commonwealth. Just show up at your assigned polling place and get the results from an election officer once the polls close ( 6 PM ) and phone those results into the station. Simple.

I'll try and figure out more of the details tomorrow and post here before I go outta town for the weekend. I wanted to float the idea and see if there was interest, looks like there is. I'd love to make this happen for the Coalition.

Thanks for eveyone's interest. Here are some more details.

We need 156 people. Fayette County has 251 precincts with 156 polling places. Feel free to recruite your spouse, parents, cousin, roommate, etc. Some volunteers will have to phone in results from several different precincts, not that big a deal. We need to have volunteers rounded up in the next week or so, I'll start a list of folks with contact info. You'll be assigned a precinct before the election and we'll help out with directions and info that you need to phone in. If you can commit to this please hold up your end of the bargan, so that the Coaliton can receive the money. This could turn into a twice an election year fundraiser. Let's make this happen people!
