Climbing information needed for school project-9th grade

Hello, my name is Nick Taylor and I am doing a sub culture project on rock climbers for my ninth grade civics class. To gain the information for my project I need to interview at least 4 people who are apart of the sub culture. I have decided to do rock climbers because the red river gorge is such a popular place and both of my parents frequently visit there and I want to learn more about it. What are the parameters of the project? What definition is being used for "subculture"?
Better yet let's hijack this thread and maybe that will help.
What is a subculture? What are the characteristics of the members of this subculture?
