There's a 5 minute timeout for your session once you log out.

....meaning you name will still show in the "Who's logged in" section 5 minute after you log out.

If you close your browser without logging out, you will still show up for five or so minutes, but, will still have to log back in.

That same thing happens to me at other forums and just the other day goodguy told me this happens to him here. It's definitely odd...

It can happen if your IP address changes while logged in. Your IP address is stored in the session table of the database. If your IP changes then your session credentials aren't recognized. For example, I have to send keepalives via a Putty session to my server to maintain a phpBB session otherwise my outbound load balancing will switch my NAT IP and destroy my session.

OK, how's this one.....

I have not been able to log in using the right nav in forever, I always have to use the "log in to check your pm's" option. If I use the right nav I show up as logged in but cannot access PM's, suck forum, etc. Then after logging in via PM's I get the "no new posts" thing.

I think it's a purely Firefox thing on my mac but I need to make sure it's not with Safari too. I cannot for the life of me figure out what's wrong with the RRC.com sessions on my Mac.

A similar thing happens to me at the RRGCC forum. I can't log in by clicking the log in button. I can only log in successfully by logging in via checking my private messages. Yet I have no problem on this site.

Strange indeed...
