i know a few crags around the red have gps coordinates but i was wondering if anyone has the coordinates for crags in the southern region, especially the pmrp.

since i don't think anyone does, would anyone that has a unit and that is headed that way be so kind as to mark the locations of the walls and post them up or pm me with them? they'd be super useful.. thanks!

(if you want to mark the parking lots that'd be awesome, too ;). thanks again!)

well that's not the thing.. i have the aerials and can pull the coordinates that way but i can't be sure of which crag is which. the imagery isn't good enough to be sure and neither is the topo.. on the ground spotting would be the best and surest way to get them.

Why not post the coordinates of all crags?

Just curious... How many climbers at the Red use gps units? We've thought about including them at Muir Valley (Rick wants to do that... maybe for emergency reasons?). We already have quite a few of the coordinates, but I don't think that there are that many climbers at the Red carrying around a gps unit. Maybe I'm mistaken, therefore to all of you who use gps down there feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

it's just difficult to discern the differences between a lot of the crags at sore heel. the other's aren't as tough. and j-rock, i'm using the coords for map purposes.. i don't think many climbers use gps.

eventually i'd love to be able to get all the crags but right now:

solar and gold coast
vol. wall
left field
playground
shady grove
purgatory
inner circle
gallery
drive-by
chica bonita
motherload
dark side
far side

if you could get the trailhead coords too that'd be awesome. i think those are all the ones i'm hoping to get soon.. thanks whoever might do that.

hofo, i'd do it myself but you broke my unit last week. it's been spitting out sticky, gooey stuff ever since

Hey Paul, that's cool. You might want to contact Ascentionist... I think that he takes lots of gps coordinates down at the Red. The map that Boyd worked on might be helpful too since it has gps coordinates as well.
