Hi guys,
Thought you might enjoy some pictures from me out ice climbing today.
I am 32 weeks (nearly 8 months) pregnant and (32 lbs later) and I just had to get my fix! We just got on a Grade 3 ice that was about 50 M long. I was exhausted by the end, but it felt great just to be out and able to do it!! I think baby loved it!
The pics are in 'other climbing'.
Enjoy!

Thats killer! Your kids gonna be like - "yeah, I started ice climbing when I was -1 month old. But, then I had to take a couple years off to learn to walk and stuff."

CCG, you look amazing! I'm very impressed that you are climbing at 8 months. My self-preservation instincts kicked in so strongly about midway through my pregnancy that I stopped at 5 months. Also, I couldn't get the darn harness on anymore!
Keep doing what you're doing. Ain't nobody happy unless mama is happy.

CCG that great, and inspiring! I'm 22 weeks & I need to get a chest harness so I can get on some routes, until then I'll continue bouldering down south!!!

Thanks guys!!! I don't feel like I look that good with the extra weight, but it is all for a great cause! It is fantastic. Don't let me fool you though, it is a lot more work! The huffing and puffing I do with the extra weight and decreased lung capacity, and the inability to step in front of my belly...it is all interesting, but so much fun.
I am slow as heck for hiking, and can only climb a few routes and i'm toast for the day. But...I'm still out there.
A lot of it is the incredible trust I have with my climbing partner/husband. He is always on the other end of my rope and he wants momma and baby to be A-ok.
Christy.. I wear the Petzl 8003
http://www.petzl.com/petzl/SportProduit ... itAssocie=
It is very adjustable (the size 1 is all you'll need if you a normal sized gal). it isn't the most comfortable as the leg loops etc aren't padded, but once you get it adjusted properly (it takes a few rappells I found to get it so it held my weight how I wanted it to) it is really nice.
Yeah, baby has been to the Gunks, (has done High E) has lead climbed (sport and trad), has ice climbed, has bouldered hehehe...Baby has done it all so far!

I've enjoyed this thread. I am getting ready to buy the Petzl 8003. What does "normal sized girl" mean? I am 5'8" and I was a size 6 before getting pregnant (I'm about 14 weeks preggo now). Is this still in the range of the size 1?

you do realize this thread is 5 years old, and none of those people climb anymore?
