You may have read, in other threads, Fred Becky is coming to Red. With help of Rick and Liz we were able to encourage Fred to give a presentation at the Hostel on Saturday Nov 26th. This will be a dinner engagement with limited seating. We can facilitate 40 individuals with 15 seats already reserved. The cost per plate is $25.00. Drop me a PM if you would like a make a reservation for one or more of the remaining 25 seats and/or sleeping arrangements. The proceeds go to help Fred with speaking fees and travel expenses.
This is a unique opportunity to meet one of legends of climbing. Earlier this Fall we were able to facilitate visits from Malcolm Daly, Sean Patrick and Tonya Riggs. Next Spring, if things go as planned, we hope to have several other pro climbers climbing for four days in the Red.
Malcolm, Sean and Tonya are old friends and each of these individuals has reached levels of notoriety. When you listen to their epics, you find it is not the notoriety but the friends and relationships these adventures have yielded they hold so dear.
As we near the close of the 2005 season Shannon and I and the rest of the TNO gang would like to thank each of you for a great season. Thank you for your support and friendships. Thank you for breathing life back into the hostel and thank you most of all for those relationships that can only be described as “the fellowship of the rope”

Fred at the Red
Fred spent the weekend here in the Red and left Monday morning to give a couple presentations Monday and Tuesday. He will be back here Wed through Sunday. Weather permitting, he'll be climbing here during that time. Sunday, he was frustrated that he hadn't gotten his hands on rock in close to two weeks and was really wanting to jump on some of this sandstone down here.
Saturday, he climbed "Go West" and helped Karla and Jared work a new trad route in Coal Bank Hollow. At eight four, this guy is nothing short of phenomenal. A strong steady climber with grit. (And, for me, it was nice to climb with someone older for a change!)
Fred will be staying at the True North Outfitters Climbers Hostel from Wed to Sunday. You can meet him there in the evenings and out on the rock somewhere during the day. We will also try to make Miguel's Thanksgiving feast Thursday.
