Eastern Pennsylvania Climbing

Post by GWG »

I'm being relocated to the New Jersey/Eastern PA area early next year. Anyone know of climbing areas close by other than the obvious "Gunks"?

Haven't visited any of the gyms in the area but I'll be sure to check them out and get their input as well.

One positive thing about this move is that any trip to the gorge will now be an extended one instead of a quick down and back from Louietown. 8)

Haycock, Governor's Stable, Mt. Gretna. Those are all bouldering locations, but Triassic Diabase is some of the best stone on earth. I have been to Haycock and despite the fact that it is kind of hard to get around at first and kind of spread out, the is amazing and the problems outstanding.

Don't know how far from State College you will be, but some areas around there have decent bouldering.
